Einstein’s Mozart

Einstein’s Mozart is a full-evening work with original poetry by Kate Light and chamber music by W. A. Mozart. It was commissioned by the Colorado Chamber Players to commemorate the close convergence of the centenary of Einstein’s “Miracle Year” (1905-2005) and Mozart’s 250th birthday (1756-2006).

Since its premiere in 2006, the piece has received more than thirty performances, including Vanderbilt College, Chamber Music Toledo, Colorado College, Lehigh University, and many performances in the New York and Denver metropolitan areas, all with Kate as narrator.

Duration: 1 hour and 40 minutes (full-length version).  Abridged versions for adults and educational versions for young audiences are  available, in durations ranging from 45 to 75 minutes.

“…a landmark of artistic synthesis.”
-Toledo Blade

“The words lent themselves so easily to music that they seem like beautiful musical notes –
each one a droplet of sparkle… Einstein’s Mozart is an informed, insightful and heartfelt
tribute to two giants of mankind.”
– Cho-Liang Lin, Music Director, Summerfest LaJolla
